Common Uses
This is a muscle relaxant. It is used to relieve the pain of muscle spasms as a result of strain.

Before Taken
Take Soma orally, three times per day and before you sleep. It is recommended for use by ages twelve and over. Side effects can include stomach upsets. It is therefore recommended that you take Soma with food.

Warnings/Precautions
Do not take Soma if you have acute intermittent porphyria. Before taking Soma, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease. You may need a lower dose or special monitoring during your therapy. It is not known whether Soma will harm an unborn baby. Do not take Soma without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant. It is also not known whether Soma passes into breast milk. Do not take Soma without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. Soma is not approved for use in children younger than 12 years of age.

Missed Dose
Try to stick to a regular dosing schedule. If a dose is missed within an hour or so, take the missed dose immediately, otherwise skip it and move on to your next scheduled dose. Don’t ever take double the dose at once.

Possible Side Effects
This medication may cause lightheadedness, vertigo, short temper, headaches, depression or trouble sleeping. Allergies, although rare can develop, particularly during the first few days of treatment. If you suspect you may be suffering from side effects or a severe reaction not mentioned here, consult your doctor immediately.

Storage
Store your medication at room temperature away from moisture or sunlight.

Overdose
Seek emergency medical attention. Symptoms of a Soma overdose include low blood pressure (weakness, fainting, confusion), decreased breathing, and unconsciousness.

More Information
Don’t drive or operate hazardous machinery until you are fully aware of the effect that Soma has on you. If you experience lightheadedness or fatigue, use extreme caution while taking this medication. Alcohol may cause unpleasant reactions to Soma.
