Common uses
Paxil is a SSRI used to treat depression, panic attacks, OCD, social anxiety disorder and generalized anxiety disorders. SSRI’s work by restoring the balance of natural substances in the brain. Paxil can also be used to treat other conditions according to your doctor’s instruction, such as severe PMS, diabetic nerve issues, premature ejaculation, and post traumatic stress.

Before using
Always consult with your doctor before taking Paxil, particularly if you are taking other drugs, as these can affect or in turn be affected by Paxil. You must also seek a doctor’s advice before stopping taking Paxil. Inform your doctor of any existing medical conditions that you may be experiencing prior to taking Paxil, including any seizures, allergies or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as it is unknown whether or not Paxil is excreted in breast milk. Follow the advice given by your doctor with regards to dosage. Take Paxil with or without food, as desired.

Storage
Store Paxil in a tightly sealed container at room temperature, away from sunlight. Always keep medicines out of the reach of children.

Missed dose
Should you happen to miss a dose in the morning, take in the afternoon. If you miss a whole day’s dose, carry on the next day with your regular dosage schedule. Do not take two doses at once. You must not take Paxil if you are allergic to any of its ingredients or have suffered an allergic reaction upon taking it. Consult your doctor if you are unsure of any of possible symptoms. Up to a month can pass before Paxil takes effect. Keep taking your medication as prescribed. Paxil is not recommended for those under 18 years of age.

Side effects
It is recommended that you monitor your condition extra closely when you first start taking this medication and also if you should alter your dose, as this is when side effects are most likely to occur. If you feel a change in your personality or thought processes, such as anxiety; depression; restlessness; irritability; insomnia; panic attacks, you should seek medical advice immediately, as these can be signs of a worsening condition. It is also recommended that those close to you look out for any of these symptoms. Avoid alcohol whilst taking Paxil. For those who are pregnant or considering pregnant, it is important that you discuss the effects of Paxil with a doctor prior to taking it. If men experience any erectile problems or noticeable differences, consult a doctor immediately or permanent issues could occur. In the unlikely event of an allergic reaction, such as respiratory problems, itchiness, rashes, or lightheadedness, seek immediate medical attention.
